being poor doesn´t mean no money, no playstation, no new iphone etc. The people are happy in Happyland. And I dont mean " made by supreme leader of North Korea" happy videos. Here in europe people are not happy. Why? no family, cant have enough money, the eldery are left alone to die, no belief in God.

Homeless here in the US they find trash and find food too. I have seen it many times. At least the carenderia owner washed the food and heated it before they sale it to people. Some people they wasted so much food.

Bitter melon: blanch in boiling water, squeeze juice out and discard it before mixing with other vegetables in the pinakbet. This takes the bitter taste out of it.

That pagpag recipe is as safe as you could make garbage. Cleaning it, then frying it a lot, then dousing it in a lot of salty soy sauce when turning it into Adobo (adobo was originally a way of preserving food during pre-colonial times). That doesn't mean pagpag is safe, but they did everything they could've possibly done to clean it.

A totally fantastic video. I agree with you, hard working Philippinos in the slum areas, who still manage to feed their familly and manage to keep happy are people who really impress me. I always wanted to go to happyland, but I never did as people - philippinos - kept telling me how unsafe it was there. It is a shame, people there would have impressed me, and I could have helped some people there who really needed a little help. May I ask if you went there totally by yourself, or if there was some friend there with you? If I went there one year I would not have anyone who would come with me. Also, was it hard to find your way around? Did google maps work good enough?

These kids are decendants of Great Datu Lapu-lapu, they are Cebuanos. Most of the fathers of these kids are working Overseas as Seafarers/Sailors who does earn US Dollar. Actually, this place is located near the International Sea Port of Cebu City and about kilometer away the huge University of Cebu and University of Visayas are located which are both specialing Global Seafarer Courses.
